On April the 2nd we rode our first of the spring cobbled classics. The Ronde van Vlaanderen.
129km, 15 cobbled climbs, 5 tough flat cobbled sectors.
A little illness in the week leading up to the race, lead me in doubt of my current form. But after a few tough kilometers everything started coming together. The legs felt great, and I smiled through the pain on the last cobbled climb, the Patersberg. After reaching the top, I was passed by a few Katusha riders who were doing some recon for the pro race on Sunday. I decided to ride along in their slipstream, and after a few minutes I was asked to help along. So I did. 12 very fast kilometers later, we reached the finish in Oudenaarde. And I could smile again.
What an experience. So much fun.
