Trainingcamp Tenerife day 8 (going back home)

Today was all about resting the body. The hard work is done. Now just relaxing and waiting at the pool. Getting some sun and some sleep. And off course, coffee.

After a well deserved breakfast I had to check out of my room at 10 am. My ride to the airport doesn't arrive until 4 pm, so there was a long time in between. I thought about maybe riding the mountainbike on the beach, but decided not to as I was already feeling very tired.

So I decided, to just relax at the pool and enjoy the sun.

At 4 pm I got on ride to the airport. Unfortunately the bus got stuck in traffic and we ended up being very late at the airport. But luckily the plane was delayed. There had been some delay leaving Amsterdam airport and afterward they had some delay arriving at Tenerife Sur, as there was a plane with technical problems blocking the landing strip. Eventually my plane left 90 minutes later as was expected. But that's ok, stuff like that happens.

During the flight I watched my favourite documentary about Craig Alexander. For those who not know Crowie, his nickname, he was the first Ironman 70.3 world champion and a three time winner of Kona. The Ironman world championships in Hawaii. He's also the current record holder for the fastest ever time in Kona history. His last win, at age 38 was in 2011.. What an amazing athlete.

As the time flew by (word joke), food was delivered and after having a delicious vegetarian pasta, the plane already started descending towards Amsterdam airport.  4 hours flew by in minutes. That means I finally get to hold and kiss my girl. Missed her so much on this trip. I don't mind going on training camps like this, but leaving home is always hard.

After the plane had landed I got out into the little gateway and immediately wanted to be back in Tenerife. Damn, that's some cold weather. Has Holland not realized that it's already summer in this part of the world? Picked my bags up, and then, as I was traveling through customs I got to the arrivals hall, and there was my girl. Already crying. haha. A million minutes cuddle and several thousand kisses later we were on our way back home. And I tell you, nothing beats home.
